WHO IS HARV DENT?
Harv Dent is, as cliche as it may sound, a product, or better put a culmination of experiences of the urban enviornments of the New York streets. Born and raised in Harlem/Washington Heights area of Manhattan; an area which once held the highest murder and drug rate in New York, Harvy was weaned on the golden era of hip hop (80's and 90's, drug stories, block parties, joy anguish and pain. Never one to follow the trend of brainless babble, Harv has always brought an innovative and creative approach to any topic he chose or chooses to expound upon. Harv's is a myriad of expression, seeing how his paradigm of hip hop was never solely based, nor over-saturated with gangsterisms, his approach is that of one who is embedded, but not necessarily a participant of/or in the madness surrounding him.
Harv got his start as many hip hoppers have, first as a fan, then as an active participant in the culture he loves. After receiving justly earned praises and the encouragement of his peers from various walks and demographics, Harv, then using the moniker Raucous aka S.a.b.o.t.a.g.e., began cultivating and honing his craft. Starting in freestyle ciphers and exchanging lyrical verbiage he further earned the respect of his peers due to his lyrical content and unique flow. These exchanges led to various opportunities and guest featured appearances on numerous compilations and mix tapes. During his military service time, Harv (Raucous aka Sabotage) met up with a fellow New York rapper who offered him a guest appearance spot on the " What Is Enough " 12" appearing on the compilation Roey Marquis presents Ruff n Raw. This would become his first official release. This led him to his first solo debut single release " Say No More " b/w " No Way Out " both domestically & internationaly. This also led to " No Way Out the Shantal Remix" which still buzzes in the France region to this day; " Untouchable " Sonic Speyes ft. Raucous aka Sabotage and eventually a Sony released single " the Melody feat. Harvey Dent and Emel from off of the Roey Marquis II presents the Vortex album.
Harv also had other promotional singles released such as " Fall From Grace " which appeared on the b side of the Missing Links single " the What " released by Roey Marquis II. Harv appeared on many tours with many then prominent rappers and would share the stage opening for such acts as Wyclef Jean, Wu Tang Clan, MC Lyte, The Lost Boys , DJ EVil Dee, Finsta Bundy, The Jig Masters, The Missing Links, DJ Tony Touch, El Fudge, R.A. The Rugged Man, Dj Ev (former DJ for Eric Sermon), DJ Syntex (London DJ), DJ Koffey (london). Harv would suffer a fatal setback at a very crucial point of his career. Being slated to tour as an opening act for Nas, which would've undoubtedly given him the exposure he much needed; the unfortunate and untimely death of artist Notorious B.I.G (r.i.P) would lead to Nas cancelling the slated tour, thereby Harv's exposure never reached fruition. Harv did however continue to rip the european show circuit without having any official deal. He appeared on numerous projects and at events having various degrees of success. He has since appeared in now regional classics with international groups from Germany to Czech republic, earning the respect of all whom he encounters.
